Backnang - schön war´s - German Raveler Meeting 2009

Backnang, das ist jetzt ein weißer Fleck weniger auf meiner Weltkarte. Virtuell kommt man ja (fast) überall hin, kann sich per google earth voyeuristisch reinzoomen, aber mal “in echt” teilnehmen zu dürfen an einem Treffen derer, die die gleiche Leidenschaft in ihren Klauen hält, das ist für mich eher rar auf meiner Provinz-Kuhwiese.

Backnang is one more place to get a pin on my map of the world. I rarely leave my country home for a passage to the big wide world wherever that might be. This time it was Backnang in order to meet some more crazy  passionate knitters.

Die to do-Liste:

• Backnang finden und das Auto ist immer noch heil  √
• Hotel finden und eine Tonne Bücher ins Zimmer bringen, unbedingt schwäbisch essen  √
• Wollstube Wollin finden und Eintrittskarte abholen, ohne Wolle zu kaufen (….√)
• Bürgerhaus finden, eine Tonne Bücher hochbringen, ohne darüber nachzudenken, warum ich sowas tue √
• Sitzplatz finden. Gründlich umgucken. Liebe Leute begrüßen. √√√
• Kurs geben und nicht sterben √ Teilnehmer hoffentlich erreichen und mit der Tonne beschmeißen
• Herrn Zitron danken für die freundliche Garnspende√
• Jess und Casey treffen und mich bedanken, was ihnen aus den Ohren wieder herauskommen wird, aber mir ein Bedürfnis ist, denn Ravelry hat mir eine Menge ermöglicht √
• Jo Watson treffen und Stirling abklären √
• Garnrollenhalter an die Sockenanja bringen √
• knittingcouple danken mit der Bitte, alle Betroffenen darin einzuschließen√
• einfach nur sitzen, hoffentlich sprechen Leute mit mir, glücklich sein √√√
• heil zurück kommen incl heilem Auto √
• in den Alltag zurück finden   ???? (bleibt fraglich)
• mit meiner Tochter Barbara mal wieder ein paar Stunden verbringen♥

Things to do:

• Find Backnang with car still going strong √
• Find hotel, get that ton of books to hotel room, eat some local food to keep my wonderbody´s shape√
• Find WollstubeWollin , get tickets without active stash enhancing (….√)
• Find Bürgerhaus, schlep books once more without thinking about insane mechanisms that drive me doing such things √
• Find place to place my butt. Look around missing no detail. Hug people I like. Think of applying antiperspirant before that kind of action. √√√
• Enrich some people´s lives by the class I am allowed to give making the most of my wonderbody´s shape by making believe that bigger girls need short rows from time to time suggesting some useful areas for taking advantage of your knowledge how to do short rows √
• A big Thank You goes out to Mr. Zitron for sponsoring my workshop √
• The vegan part of the workshop: a ton of books to boost tons of ideas √
• Meet Jess and Casey and for the first time in their life let them hear the song of praise for their fantastic idea of starting Ravelry and by that giving me a chance to become a part of the knitting community in a way I wouldn´t have dreamed of before √
• Pester Jo Watson because of my stay at Stirling  √
• Find Sockenanja to give her my yarn-thingies √
• Find knittingcouple  again and again to ask silly questions and to thank for doing this great job along with their team√
• Sit, talk, knit, feel happy  √√√
• Get home with car still rolling√
• Get back to earth ???? (maybe not)
•  Spend some hours with my daughter Barbara who wouldn´t bother to meet some knitters, too♥
